TOUCHMATH

TouchMath is one approach we can use to teach your child mathematics. TouchMath is a multi-sensory approach to numbers. The program uses dots that we call “TouchPoints” on the numerals. Each TouchPoint on the numerals 1 through 5 represents one counting number. Numerals 6 through 9 use double TouchPoints that are touched and counted twice. The zero has no TouchPoints, so you stop and never touch the zero.

Students begin by learning to touch and count each TouchPoint on the numerals. This approach involves your child not only mentally, but physically by touching the numerals.

As you child becomes more familiar with the TouchPoints they are faded off the numerals.

As your child progresses they may learn how to apply their knowledge of the TouchPoints to complete addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems.
